1996 John Wesley Kroeker

1996, John W. Kroeker was born on October 17, 1969 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Peter & Esther (Winsinger) Kroeker.  He died at Hopewell House in Portland, Oregon on July 17, 2011 at the age of 41.  John lived a few years in rural Kansas, accepted the Lord early in childhood.
He worked for Nylus Construction building homes, he enjoyed touring the homes that he recently worked on.  John married Joleen Weaver on
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and his interests included woodworking.
Survivors include: Mother: Esther Kroeker of N. Newton, Kansas; Wife: Joleen Kroeker and Son: Jonathan both of St. Helens; Brother: Samuel Kroeker, his wife Marcia and son TJ of Omaha, Nebraska.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the Darwin Stoesz Missionary Fund-Japan % Send International.

New Wycliffe Missionaries

My wife Linda (’94) and I (’93) are now members of Wycliffe. We are working on developing our partnership team before beginning our work. We are at 64%. Please pray God will guide us to the right people so we can begin our work this fall. – Stuart Thiessen

1967, Herbert C. Busenitz

1967, Herbert C. Busenitz, 62, was welcomed home by his Savior on Friday (Dec. 10, 2010), at his rural Whitewater, Kansas residence surrounded by his family.  He was born on April 8, 1948, along with twin brother Robert, at Bethel Hospital in Newton. He was one of 12 children born of William L. and Emma Wiebe Busenitz.  He graduated from Berean Academy in Elbing and attended college. On June 26, he married Patricia Krehbiel in Newton. They would make their home near Whitewater, where Herbert farmed. Their union was blessed with seven children.

He was a member of Emmaus Mennonite Church and served on the Child Evangelism Camp Committee for Hutchinson. He was a Gideon and was a board member for Source of Light.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Patricia Busenitz, of the home; children, Carlen and wife, Kathryn Busenitz of Whitewater, Rachel Busenitz of Wichita, Angela and husband, Quentin Nusz of Rose Hill, Duane and wife, Amanda Busenitz of Benton, Lavonn Busenitz of Wichita, Eric Busenitz of Whitewater and Sylvia Busenitz of Whitewater; brothers, William and wife, Grace Busenitz of Potwin, Gilbert and wife, Fran Busenitz of Madison, Ga., Arnold and wife, Velma Busenitz of Newton, and David and wife, Isabel of Topeka; sisters, Helen Busenitz of Ecuador, South America, Theresa and husband, Henry Ortmann of Wolf Point, Mont., Emma and husband, Arlowe Becker of Plymouth, Mich., Kady and husband, Jan Schubert of Omaha, Neb., and Christina Busenitz of Guinea, West Africa; nine grandchildren, Eben, Clara and Silas Busenitz, Danae, Courtney, Jessica, Trenton and Trevor Nusz and Colton Busenitz; and sister-in-law, Barb Busenitz of Benton.  Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Robert Busenitz; and an infant brother.

Memorial funds have been established for Source of Light or RHMA (Rural Home Missionary Association) in care of Lamb Funeral Home, P.O.  Box 358, Whitewater, KS 67154.

1965 Reverend Leland J Friesen

1965, Leland J. Friesen, 68 of Ashland went home to be with the lord following a courageous battle with cancer late Thursday evening, May 26, 2011 in his home.  He was born on January 24, 1943 in Butterfield, Minnesota to the late John R. and Marie (nee Quiring) Friesen. Leland married the love of his life, the former Janelle Fuhrman on July 18, 1964. He was a well educated man having graduated from Butterfield High School in 1961. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from the Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska and his Master’s Degree of Divinity from Grace Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. Leland retired in 2007 from the Brooksville Grace Brethren Church in Florida after having been the church’s pastor for eleven years. Throughout his career, he ministered more than 43 years in which 37 of those years were in various Grace Brethren Churches.  He was a devoted attendant of the Ashland Grace Brethren Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, and reading; although, spending time with his family and grandchildren was by far the most important.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years of marriage, Janelle Friesen of Ashland; one daughter, Shari (Nate) Benyousky of Warsaw, Indiana; one son, Dr. Steve (Stephanie) Friesen of Ashland; six grandchildren, Daniel, Joelle, Tara, Kaylee, Jason, and Drew; two sisters, Shirley (Arnold) Dick of Long Prairie, Minnesota and Sandy Warling of Memphis, Tennessee; and two brothers, Roger Friesen of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Howard (Rhonda) Friesen of Mankato, Minnesota.  In addition to his parents, Leland is preceded in death by a sister, Verna Hempeck.

A memorial service celebrating Leland’s life was held, Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ashland Grace Brethren Church, 1144 West Main Street, Ashland, OH 44805.  An additional memorial service will be held at the Brooksville Grace Brethren Church in Florida at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, OH 44805 or to Ashland Grace Brethren Church, 1144 West Main Street, Ashland, OH 44805.
