Emil J. Krahn, 84, of Morton, IL. passed away at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born January 18, 1929 in Langdon, ND to Jacob and Mary (Spenst) Krahn. He married Ruby Pauls on August 10, 1950 in Dallas, OR.
Surviving are his wife Ruby, of Morton; his children, Timothy (Marcia) Krahn of Morton, Carolyn (Kirby) Baltzer of Freeman, SD, Roland (Cheri) Krahn of Albuquerque, NM, Sheryl (Steven) Klassen of Morton and Jean (Steve) Sivadge of Omaha, NE; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ben (Lavina) Krahn of Newton, KS.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Emil served as a pastor from 1952 to 1959 in Avon, SD, 1960 to 1968 in Delft, MN, 1969 to 1973 in Lynden, WA, 1973 to 1981, and at Groveland Evangelical Mennonite Church, Groveland, IL. From 1985 until his retirement in 1994 he served at Avant Ministries, formerly Gospel Missionary Union, in Kansas City, MO. as the director of the mission guest house. After retirement he continued to minister whenever opportunity arose.

Alan Dean Decker, ’69

Alan Dean Decker, 62, of Huron, SD, died August 1, 2013 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Alan Dean Decker was born on April 6, 1951 to Richard and Anna (Wipf) Decker in Huron, SD. He graduated from James Valley High School in 1969. He attended Grace College of the Bible and Mitchell Technical Institute.

On August 20, 1988 Alan married Patricia Eileen Moes in Huron. Alan worked as head of maintenance for Zip Feed. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church.  Alan loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, farming, camping, and riding his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Anna Decker;  one brother, Leonard Decker; one grandson, Owen Eaglestar; his father-in-law, Gerald Moes; and two nieces and one nephew, Nichol Lotzer, Dana Beaudry and Gary Moes.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Patricia of Huron, SD; five children, Charles (Amie) Decker of Carpenter, SD, Travis Decker and Melissa Decker of Huron, SD, Jennifer Decker of Mitchell, SD and Anna (Dustin) Walraven of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren, Chayton Eaglestar, Patrick Decker, Grace Lynn Decker, Kasandra Decker, Orieana Decker, Malcolm Decker, Alexis Decker, Alycia Decker, Aliyah Decker and Leo Walraven; one sister, Diane Loewen of  Kansas; his mother-in-law, Eileen Moes of Goodwin, SD; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Theresa (Denis) Drake, Peggy Moes, Greg (Julie) Moes, Jim (Kathy) Moes, Sue (Tom) Beaudry, John (Donita) Moes, Joe (Karla) Moes, Laurie (Thomas) Chipman, Michele (Larry) Hard, and Jeff (Lynnette) Moes.

Lavina Wall

Lavina A. Wall, ’54

Lavina Mae Wall, 78, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, IA.
Lavina was born April 3, 1935 to Peter and Nellie Heidi in rural Mountain Lake, MN. She accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized upon confession of her faith. Lavina grew up and attended school in Mountain Lake, MN and later attended Grace University in Omaha, NE.

On June 13, 1958 Lavina was united in marriage to Henry A. Wall and the couple made their home in Mountain Lake, MN for over fifty years. Lavina enjoyed cooking, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. She loved and attended all of her children’s events.

Lavina is survived by her husband of 54 years , Henry Wall; children, Connie Wall of Ankeny, IA, Steve (Lisa) Wall of Ann Arbor, MI, Doug (Martha) Wall of Chanhassen, MN, Randy (Patty) Wall of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Sarah Wall, Matthew Wall, Jackie Wall, Laila Samaha, Alan Samaha. She is also survived by her brothers, Bob (Norma) Heide, Hutchinson, KS, Darrel (Susan) Heide of Highland, CA, Don (Jan) Heide of White Bear Township, MN, and Jerry (Kathy) Heide of Colorado Springs, CO; and sister-in-law, Orletta Wiebe, North Newton, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin Heide; and step-mothers, Elsie Heide and Sara Heide.
