Jared T. Burkholder Conference on Global Engagement

Grace University friends and alumni are invited to the Jared T. Burkholder Conference on Global Engagement Feb. 23-26 in Suckau Chapel at 840 Pine Street on the Grace University campus to hear from alumni and missionaries Mark and Diane (Hofer) Ellis. This great week of study and prayer is organized annually by student leaders to help students learn more about what mission field God is calling them.

Some of you may remember that Mark and Diane met at Grace University on the first day of their sophomore year when both were in the missions program. For him, it was love at first sight; for her, not so much. Nevertheless, Mark was persistent, and they were married a month after graduation. Mark, who served as president for both Grace World Outreach and the 1980 senior class, will be returning to Grace to share from the Word of God and personal experiences how a person can discern God’s calling upon their lives, and practical advice on being a fruitful, lifelong missionary.

“God powerfully and effectively used professors and special speakers at Grace University to prepare us for life and ministry, and especially in our preparation for missions,” said Mark. “During our missionary training after arriving on the field, so much of what we heard from ‘cutting edge’ missiologists we had already learned at Grace University. My hope is that God will use us to touch the lives of Grace students in 2015 and ‘pay forward’ the blessings we received.”

Since graduation, Mark and Diane have been learning and serving around the Western Hemisphere. Prior to going to Brazil in 1995, they served as missionaries in Canada, and then Mark pastored churches in Nebraska and Texas. As missionaries in Brazil with the IMB/SBC, the focus of Mark’s ministry has been teaching and equipping the leaders of the future; together with Diane, he has also planted four churches. The focus of Diane’s ministry is discipling and counseling women. In addition, Diane homeschooled their five children who have graduated from college and are living out God’s purposes for their lives.

Mark and Diane are back in the U.S.A. for a year of “stateside assignment,” serving as Missionaries in Residence at the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., seeking out opportunities to minister to students. Mark also continues to lead a Brazil-wide project to build a distance education platform and record on-line courses for use by Brazilian seminaries.

Your Teen Can Experience Grace!

Your Teen Can Experience Grace!

Posted on 13 February 2015 by editor

Last month, more than 50 high school students arrived on campus with siblings and parents in tow. Over a fun weekend, the teens experienced Grace University as they stayed in the dorms, attended class, met with student leaders and faculty, and learned how a Christ-centered education can impact the call on their lives.

While the teens were shadowing the college students, the parents learned about the more than 40 academic areas of study, scholarship opportunities and financial aid. The parents also learned how a biblically based education impacts their children’s long-term relationship with Christ, compared with the typical college experience where 70% of Christian students leave the church.

We would love to see you and your children, grandchildren, youth group members, or friends join us for the next visit weekend:
