Gilbert P. Busenitz, ’62

Gilbert Paul Busenitz, 75, of Madison passed away on March 2, 2015, at his home.

Gil was born to the late William L. And Emma Wiebe Busenitz in Newton, Kansas, on August 17, 1939. Gil graduated from high school at Berean Academy in Elbing, Kansas, in 1957.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Grace Bible Institute in 1962. He married Frances Louise Stucky on July 20, 1962. Together, they served with RHMA for 16 years in Washington, Illinois, and Arizona.

In 1978, they moved to Madison to work with Source of Light Ministries, where he served until his death.  They attended Trinity Baptist Church in Madison. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, and woodworking.

Gil is survived by his wife of 52 years, Fran Busenitz; a daughter, Janice (John) Connelly of Sierra Leone, Africa; sons, Paul (Stacy) Busenitz of Watkinsville, Pete (Suz) Busenitz of Bostwick, Phil (Tori) Busenitz of Centreville, VA; brothers, William (Grace) Busenitz, Arnold (Velma) Busenitz, and David (Isabelle) Busenitz; sisters, Helen Busenitz, Emma (Arlowe) Becker, Chris Busenitz, and Kady (Jan) Schubert; 12 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Ortmann, and brothers Robert Busenitz and Herbert Busenitz.

Ken Jacobs

Kenneth I. Jacobs, ’62

Kenneth I. Jacobs, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at his home.

Born October 11, 1943, in Marengo, Iowa, Ken was the son of Lawrence and Violet (Barnett) Jacobs. On August 18, 1967, he was united in marriage to Norma Morris in Walker, Iowa. He worked at Evergreen Packaging for over 30 years.

Ken was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and he also served on the board of Spring Valley Bible Camp.

Ken enjoyed camping and traveling but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and attending his grandchildrens’ events.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; children, Todd (Christa) Jacobs of Newburgh, Indiana, Tim (Amanda) Jacobs of Marion, Iowa, and Teresa (Ryan) Hanna of Martelle, Iowa; grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, Malia, Jordan, Jared, Caden, Sadie, Levi and Kenzie; and siblings, Dixie Meeks of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Robert (Sharon) Jacobs of Ladora, Iowa, and Dr. Orville (Ruth) Jacobs of Altoona, Iowa.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda O’Dell.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church where a memorial fund has been established in Ken’s memory.

Violet (Reid) Baldridge

Violet “Nunny” Baldridge, 70, wife of Jesse “Boppy” Baldridge, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Galveston, TX, and graduated from Grace University, Omaha, NE in 1962.  She enjoyed being the retired activities coordinator at Mayfair Manor and was a fan of the Campbellsville University Lady Tigers softball team.

Survivors other than her husband are three children, David Hilton Baldridge, Betty Gail (Nathan) Cornett and Roy Daniel Baldridge, all of Lexington; three grandchildren, Jordan, Banks and Hayes Cornett; three siblings, Dan Reid, Bob Reid and Anna Fokken; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on  Monday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be given to Quest Community Church, 410 Sporting Ct, Lexington, KY 40503.
