Inez Senner, ’65

Inez C. Senner, age 68, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care after a battle with metastatic lung cancer.

She was born October 7, 1944 in Glendive, MT the youngest child of William and Edna (Miller) Senner. Inez graduated from Dawson County High School in 1962, and went on to attend Grace University graduating with a General Bible Diploma. She graduated with an AA degree from Dawson College in Glendive and received her Bachelors of Science degree from Dickinson State University in 1969.

Inez began her teaching career at Lincoln School in 1969 and ended it there 40 years later in 2009. She truly loved working with children. Among Inez’s interests were reading, volunteering at AWANA club at her church, teaching Sunday school and traveling, with the Hawaiian Islands being her favorite spot.

She also volunteered at the Glendive Dinosaur and Fossil Museum and especially enjoyed taking children through the museum. She belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma and the Community Bible Church in Glendive.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents in 1968. She is survived by two brothers, Douglas Senner (Audrey) of Richey, MT and Rodney Senner (Jackie) of Bloomfield, MT; one sister, Eloise Koehn (Victor) of Foley, AL and many nieces and nephews. Her great-nieces and nephews were also important, as she tried to make contact with them at least once a year.

Lora Roth

Lora Lucile Roth, ’65

Lora Lucile Roth, 71, passed away on October 16, 2013 at her home in rural Gridley, IL.  She?was born on January 21, 1942 in North Platte, NE to Dan Connell and Lena Fay (Paxton) Connell.
Lora grew up on a ranch in rural Stapleton, NE.  She graduated from Thomas County High School in Thedford, NE in 1959.  After high school, she attended college at Grace Bible Institute?in Omaha, NE where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education.  While her brothers were serving in the military, she began working for her father as a ranch hand prior to moving to Illinois in 1968 to work at the Salem Children’s Home.  She spent 20 years raising her 5 kids before returning to work as a teacher’s aide at Salem School and Flanagan School.
Lora married Darrell W. Roth in 1973 in Gridley, IL. They were happily married for 40 years. She was a member of Salem Church where she was involved in many ministries including teaching girls club and children’s church.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and helping Darrell on the farm.  She was also dedicated to giving blood and was able to donate 9 gallons during her life time.
Lora was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Fay Connell; sister, Colleen Miller; brother-in-law, Larry Smith; sister-in-law, Carol Connell; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Connell.
Lora is survived by her husband, Darrell Roth of Gridley, IL; her five children: Bill (Becky) Roth of Gridley, IL; Reggie (Melinda) Roth of Gridley, IL; Lori (Joe) Alstat of Greenville, IL; Dustin (Jamie) Roth of Eureka, IL; and Marty (Julie) Roth of Morton, IL.  She is survived by her thirteen grandchildren: Tyler, Alyie and Audrey Roth (Bill); Jude and Makenna Roth (Reggie); Hudson, Cohen and Teague Alstat (Lori); Natali, Connell and Lilian Roth (Dustin); Benjamin and Ellie Roth (Marty).  She is also survived by her 3 brothers and 4 sisters: Dan (Geneva) Connell of Tryon, NE; Barbara (Charles) Patterson of Callaway, NE; Carolyn (Eldon) Pritzel of Englewood, CO; Sam Connell of Tryon, NE; Mike (Tina) Connell of Stapleton, NE; Wilma (Al) Barkman of Lingle, WY; and Wanda Wilkins of Drexel, MO.

Marilyn K. Busenitz, 68, entered Eternal Glory, Friday (July 7, 2012), from Presbyterian Manor in Newton.

She was born on March 31. 1944, in Newport, Wash., the daughter of Dan and Edna (Franz) Dalke. On June 11, 1965, she was            united in marriage to Laverne R. Busenitz.  They were missionaries with Biblical Ministries Worldwide, where she worked with  children. Their work would take them to Germany from 1969 to 2007.

Their union was blessed with five sons. Marilyn is lovingly survived by her parents, the Rev. Dan and Edna (Franz) Dalke of Inman; her husband, the Rev. Laverne Busenitz of Newton; her sons: Darryl and his wife Lori of Burns, Michael and his wife Lindy of Chihuahua, Mexico, Stefan and wife Tera of Burns, Alex and his wife Becca, and Neil of Newton; her siblings:  Cheryl Epp of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dale Dalke of Vancouver, Wash., Arleve Clark of Dayton, Ohio, Verle Dalke of Dallas, Ore., and Vonda McEachern of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and 24 grandchildren. All services will be at Emmaus Mennonite Church of Whitewater, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will precede funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at Emmaus Mennonite Cemetery, Whitewater. Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater, is entrusted with arrangements.

Classen, Jerry

1965, Jerry J. Classen, 69, of Kearney, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at his home.  Memorial services will be Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Kearney with Pastor Mike Shields and Pastor Brian Klein officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials are suggested to the Gideons International Memorial Bible Program.  A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com  Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born June 18, 1942 in Meade, Kansas to Curt and Lena (Wiens) Classen.  He grew up in Meade and graduated from Nickerson High School in 1960.  Following graduation, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended Grace University with the desire to serve the Lord as a Pastor.  He also discovered a beautiful young woman named Dori Nachtigal whom he asked to be his wife while attending Grace.  They married on June 16, 1963 in Henderson, Nebraska.  After graduation and his wedding to Dori, Jerry continued in his mission to serve the Lord and continued his studies at Grace Theological Seminary where he received his Master of theology.  Jerry and Dori have served many communities and churches during their 45 years of ministry including Minden Evangelical Free Church for 15 years.  He was a member of the Kearney Evangelical Free Church.  God has directed them throughout their journey, and they have been blessed, especially with their five children and 15 grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren.

1965 Reverend Leland J Friesen

1965, Leland J. Friesen, 68 of Ashland went home to be with the lord following a courageous battle with cancer late Thursday evening, May 26, 2011 in his home.  He was born on January 24, 1943 in Butterfield, Minnesota to the late John R. and Marie (nee Quiring) Friesen. Leland married the love of his life, the former Janelle Fuhrman on July 18, 1964. He was a well educated man having graduated from Butterfield High School in 1961. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from the Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska and his Master’s Degree of Divinity from Grace Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. Leland retired in 2007 from the Brooksville Grace Brethren Church in Florida after having been the church’s pastor for eleven years. Throughout his career, he ministered more than 43 years in which 37 of those years were in various Grace Brethren Churches.  He was a devoted attendant of the Ashland Grace Brethren Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, and reading; although, spending time with his family and grandchildren was by far the most important.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years of marriage, Janelle Friesen of Ashland; one daughter, Shari (Nate) Benyousky of Warsaw, Indiana; one son, Dr. Steve (Stephanie) Friesen of Ashland; six grandchildren, Daniel, Joelle, Tara, Kaylee, Jason, and Drew; two sisters, Shirley (Arnold) Dick of Long Prairie, Minnesota and Sandy Warling of Memphis, Tennessee; and two brothers, Roger Friesen of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Howard (Rhonda) Friesen of Mankato, Minnesota.  In addition to his parents, Leland is preceded in death by a sister, Verna Hempeck.

A memorial service celebrating Leland’s life was held, Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ashland Grace Brethren Church, 1144 West Main Street, Ashland, OH 44805.  An additional memorial service will be held at the Brooksville Grace Brethren Church in Florida at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, OH 44805 or to Ashland Grace Brethren Church, 1144 West Main Street, Ashland, OH 44805.
